First Generation (1G) – Crystalline Silicon Solar Cells

  • Monocrystalline Silicon (Mono-Si): Made from a single continuous crystal structure, which gives them a uniform appearance and higher efficiency compared to other types. They are relatively expensive to produce.
  • Polycrystalline Silicon (Poly-Si or mc-Si): Produced by melting multiple silicon crystals together. They have a speckled appearance and are typically less efficient than monocrystalline panels but are more cost-effective.
